- For phone notice, use the four-digit PIN when the system requires one. VINE-style instructions use the PIN to confirm phone notices or change a registration later.
- Complete the registration and save any confirmation number, record name, or agency detail displayed by the system.
- For Alabama VNS prison cases, re-register if the prior registration was on the older state VNS version. Alabama VNS says the new VNS site was released in March 2024 and prior registrants must register again.
Use the same spelling and identifiers when checking related systems. A Blount County jail booking number belongs to the sheriff's record. An AIS number belongs to ADOC. A VINE registration is tied to the system record shown in the portal.
Alabama VNS for Blount Prisoners
Alabama has a state VNS layer that is narrower than a general VINE search. Alabama VNS is built for offenders convicted in Alabama and sentenced to prison. A released ADOC prisoner may require ADOC Central Records, Alabama VNS, ABPP parole records, and the sentencing court for confirmation.
Important: VINE and VNS are notice tools. A certified release answer should come from the Blount County Sheriff's Office, ADOC, ABPP, BOP, ICE, or the court that holds the originating record.
Blount County VINE Limits
VINE does not replace every custody system. Federal prisoners are checked through the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator. Immigration custody is checked through ICE's Online Detainee Locator System. A municipal Oneonta release can still appear through the county facility because Oneonta houses municipal inmates at the Blount County Correctional Facility, but municipal bond authority and court obligations may sit with the municipal court.
